My twin sister is one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known. She has the purest heart, the kindest spirit, and a compassion that touches everyone around her. She loves nature, animals, and adventures, and she finds happiness in discovering new places, exploring different cultures, learning new languages, dancing ballet, cooking, and watching the sunset. Her greatest passion is ballet, and she once dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina. She also dreamed of becoming a pediatrician because of her love for children. Ultimately, she chose to study architecture so we could go to school together, that decision will always hold a special place in my heart because it reflects something beautiful about who she is: the importance of the people she loves and the way she makes room for them in her life.
My sister has a special gift for bringing peace and happiness to others. She is compassionate, gentle, and always willing to help someone in need. Even when life gets difficult, she finds a way to smile. Her heart is full of love, and her soul shines in a way that makes people feel safe and understood. She is the kind of person who brings light into a room without even realizing it.
Recently, our lives changed in ways we never imagined when my sister was diagnosed with HER2-positive stage IV breast cancer, with metastases to her bones. Since then, she has been facing the emotional and physical challenges that come with a serious diagnosis, navigating treatments, medical appointments, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Watching someone who loves life so deeply face such a difficult journey has been heartbreaking. As her twin sister, I wish I could take away her pain and carry some of this burden for her. It is difficult to put into words how much it hurts to see someone you love so much go through something you cannot fix for them.
Yet, through it all, she remains the beautiful person she has always been. Her smile, her kindness, and the light within her continue to shine, even on the hardest days. I am constantly reminded of how much courage it takes to face the unknown, and how important it is to cherish the little moments that make life beautiful. More than anything, I want her to have the opportunity to keep dreaming, traveling, enjoying sunsets, laughing, dancing, cooking, and experiencing all the things she loves.
She is my twin, my other half, and the best friend I could have ever asked for. We began this life together, and if I could choose my sister in a thousand lifetimes, I would choose her every single time.
I wish I could protect her from every hardship, but what I can do is stand beside her, love her unconditionally, and remind her every day that she is not alone. No matter how difficult this journey becomes, I hope she always feels surrounded by the same love, kindness, and peace she has spent her life giving to others. She deserves every beautiful moment this world still has to offer, and I hope with all my heart that she gets to experience many more of them.
Sincerely,
Angelica
How can you help?
We would like to do a giving tree for our friend/co worker who is currently battling Stage 4 breast cancer. We know that she and her family are facing challenges that no one should have to navigate alone, and we want to do something meaningful to help ease even a small part of the burden they’re carrying.
We believe that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference, especially during life’s most difficult moments. Our hope is that this giving tree could help relieve some of the financial and emotional stress she and her family may be experiencing, bring a little joy into their home this holiday season, and remind them that they are surrounded by people who care. While we can’t change what they’re going through, we would love to see them experience a little extra comfort, peace, and happiness during this difficult time.
We have initiated a Giving Tree through Anything for a Friend, a non-profit organization set up to help people dealing with life threatening situations. Anything for a Friend will match the funds that we raise up to $500, but we can raise much, much more. In addition to matching the funds, Anything for a Friend will provide a tree to present to Daniela which symbolizes hope and is a reminder that she is not alone in her struggle. This is a wonderful opportunity!
